Sport4All Inclusion Coach recognised in Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards
Sport4All Inclusion Coach Shiv Wheeler has been named a finalist in the Community Member of the Year category at the 2026 Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards, recognising their contribution to building more inclusive sporting communities across Gippsland.
Working with GippSport, Shiv supports local sporting clubs to become more welcoming and accessible for people with disability. Through Sport4All, that work includes helping clubs build confidence, strengthen inclusive practices and create more opportunities for people with disability to participate in community sport.
“It’s an honour to be nominated,” Shiv said.
“The goal has always been to create a more inclusive Gippsland, and sport is the driver of that. Through Sport4All, we’ve been able to support clubs to build more inclusive environments for their communities.”
Karen Ferguson, Manager – Programs & Partnerships at GippSport, said the nomination reflects the positive impact Shiv has made across the region.
Shiv’s nomination is one of several acknowledgements for Gippsland at this year’s awards, highlighting the growing commitment to disability inclusion across the region. GippSport’s Multi-Sport All Abilities Program has also been recognised as a finalist in the inaugural Regional Initiative of the Year category, alongside several other Gippsland initiatives.
The Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards celebrate individuals, clubs and organisations that are helping create more inclusive opportunities for Victorians with disability to participate in sport and active recreation.
