Building Stronger Disability Inclusion Across Mundaring

Inclusive sport Mundaring is gaining strong momentum as Sport4All deepens engagement across clubs, schools and Shire leadership in the Perth Hills.

With six positive early engagements already underway, groundwork is being laid for structured disability inclusion support across the region.

Building Local Foundations

A soft launch was delivered internally to Shire of Mundaring staff on 10 February, introducing the Sport4All program and outlining opportunities for local collaboration. The session was well received and marked an important first step in aligning council leadership with disability inclusion priorities. The official public launch is scheduled for 26 March, 2026.

Workshops and Ongoing Support

Following the launch, Sport4All will host:

  • A Sport4All Expo (date to be confirmed)
  • Six weekly workshops for clubs and schools
  • Structured opportunities to complete training modules
  • Practical support for future action planning

These workshops will provide consistent touchpoints for organisations ready to strengthen inclusion in everyday practice.

Expanding Adaptive Sport in the Perth Hills

Inclusive sport Mundaring efforts are also being strengthened through partnerships with state sporting bodies.

Engagement is underway with:

  • Volleyball WA to introduce Adaptive Volley into local schools.
  • All Abilities AFL to bring adaptive football programs and come-and-try days to the Shire.

The All Abilities AFL initiative aligns with broader state inclusion efforts, as highlighted at the Optus Origin AFL event, where inclusive programming and sensory-friendly initiatives were showcased.

Looking ahead, planning has also begun to establish a No Limits Netball team, targeted to commence in 2027. This work is not centred on a single event. It is about building a local ecosystem where:

  • Schools understand inclusive practice
  • Clubs have structured training pathways
  • Adaptive sport opportunities are visible
  • Shire leadership is aligned

With partnerships forming across football, volleyball and netball, inclusive sport Mundaring is moving from intention to implementation.

The March launch will mark a public milestone – but the work is already well underway.

“Inclusive sport matters to me because there is no I in team and everyone is included. Inclusive sport looks like one big happy family all together. I love sport because it keeps me fit and active, and I feel part of a team”
