Practical disability inclusion training for sport

Creating more inclusive sport opportunities starts with people feeling confident to act. For many clubs and schools, the question is not whether inclusion matters. It is how to make it work in everyday practice.

Sport4All provides free disability inclusion training, practical tools and ongoing support for community sporting clubs and schools across Australia. It is designed to help people build confidence, identify barriers and make changes that lead to more meaningful participation.

Learning that leads to action

A single session or policy will not create inclusion on its own. Real change comes from learning, reflection, planning and follow through.

Sport4All gives organisations a practical pathway to do that:

  • Understand current inclusion practice through a free Check In.
  • Build knowledge through practical online learning.
  • Identify realistic actions for your setting.
  • Create an Inclusion Action Plan.
  • Access guidance from a Sport4All Inclusion Coach as you put it into practice.

For community sporting clubs

Sport4All helps clubs create more welcoming experiences for players, volunteers, coaches, officials and families. The learning is grounded in the situations community clubs face every week.

  • Creating a welcoming club culture.
  • Communicating respectfully and clearly.
  • Supporting participants with disability.
  • Considering reasonable adjustments.
  • Building coach and volunteer confidence.
  • Making inclusion part of club planning.

Your club can then turn its learning into an Inclusion Action Plan shaped around your sport, people and community.

For schools

Sport and physical activity are an important part of school life. Every student should have the opportunity to participate, belong and develop through those experiences.

Sport4All supports schools to recognise barriers, build staff confidence and take practical action to make sport and physical activity more inclusive.

  • Supporting inclusive participation in sport and physical activity.
  • Planning and communicating with students and families.
  • Considering adjustments that support meaningful participation.
  • Building staff confidence.
  • Creating an action plan that reflects the school community.

Support beyond the training

Training is only one part of Sport4All. After completing the Check In and learning modules, clubs and schools can create an Inclusion Action Plan and access support from a Sport4All Inclusion Coach. This helps people apply what they have learned in a way that is realistic for their own setting.

“Inclusive sport matters to me because there is no I in team and everyone is included. Inclusive sport looks like one big happy family all together. I love sport because it keeps me fit and active, and I feel part of a team”
