Driving Disability Sports Inclusion at Netball NSW’s Wagga Wagga Roadshow

Supporting Regional Communities to Embrace Disability Sports.

Netball NSW’s Regional Roadshow in Wagga Wagga offered an important opportunity to advance inclusive practices in disability sports across local netball clubs and associations. Netball NSW invited Sport4All to engage with these communities, sharing strategies and practical tools to create more inclusive environments for people with disability.

This collaboration with Netball NSW allowed Sport4All to offer expertise in disability sports inclusion and provide clubs with clear, actionable guidance. Local clubs, keen to implement inclusive practices, used the Regional Roadshow as a platform to learn accessible and practical steps to improve inclusivity within their sport.

Sport4All joined the Roadshow to share our experience in promoting disability inclusion across sports communities. Our role at Sport4All is to help grassroots sports clubs create welcoming environments for all participants. This made us a strong fit for Netball NSW’s initiative to improve disability access at a regional level.

Sport4All’s State Sport Inclusion Coach, Jenny Crandell, led an interactive workshop for the attending netball clubs. In this session, Jenny provided practical strategies for making small yet impactful adjustments to club programs and facilities, emphasising accessibility and a welcoming atmosphere. Jenny’s session illustrated how minor program modifications, accessible facilities, and positive environments can make sports enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.

Providing Practical Tools for Local Clubs

Sport4All’s involvement aimed to make disability sports more accessible within communities. Workshop participants gained a toolkit of practical ideas, helping them create a welcoming atmosphere in their clubs and associations. These tools are designed to enable local clubs to make meaningful changes in their approach to inclusivity—from adapting programs to improving club culture.

Our approach helped participants recognise that inclusion can start with small, straightforward actions that support everyone’s participation in sport. These strategies allow netball clubs to become accessible spaces where people of all abilities can enjoy the physical and social benefits of being active.

Upcoming Roadshows in Woolgoolga and Bathurst

Following the success of the Wagga Wagga event, Sport4All will participate in two additional Regional Roadshows in Woolgoolga and Bathurst in November. These events offer further opportunities to guide regional clubs across NSW in disability sports inclusion, helping them adopt more accessible practices for people of all abilities.

Through these workshops, Sport4All reinforces its commitment to inclusive sports, supporting clubs as they build a foundation of accessibility within their communities.

“Inclusive sport matters to me because there is no I in team and everyone is included. Inclusive sport looks like one big happy family all together. I love sport because it keeps me fit and active, and I feel part of a team”
